My son and his girlfriend arrived on Wednesday night, and things have been great! My spirits are recharged. I am going to have family here for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Last year those holidays were hard. My husband and I were flat broke. We at Thanksgiving dinner at a church that was giving out free meals that day. I was unable to buy my children anything for Christmas (but made up for it in Feb when I got my tax return, but still the moment was gone), but on top of that I was miles away from them. We didn't even have a tree. Couldn't afford it! But...this year is better. I vow that we will have a tree and ornaments this year, plus some gifts under the tree. I'm going to be able to send the girls something, and I have two kids here to buy things for and put under the tree. It's awesome! Just a few months ago I was so depressed but things turned around nicely. Sometimes if you pray hard enough and wait it out it will get better. I was *this close* to quitting my job because my boss (over my supervisor) was a jerk and couldn't figure out how to talk to me in any other way than like I was a piece of garbage. I have never been rooting for someone's promotion so hard before...he was promoted right out of the store and far away, and the new guy who took over is the polar opposite of this last guy. I LOVE my new boss! He talks TO me instead of AT me, asks how things are going, even wished me a happy birthday for this weekend on his way out the door.
Things in my personal life are better too, except that I'm still worried about my daughter. Her dad still is jobless and she's still staying with her friend, but I keep praying for something to happen. He's basically a good dad just having a hard time. I so wish he'd move out here so he'd have opportunities (plus I could see my daughter every day).
Other good news is that we are going to be able to buy our own home in six months and get out of the roommate situation. I like knowing our sacrificing are for the greater good. Right now I have two teenagers who need stability and a good example so they can get on their feet.
