Why must I register with DrPhil.com to post messages on the message boards?

When you become a DrPhil.com member, you create a username. Your username is your DrPhil.com screen name. Paired with a password, your username will be unique. Once you are a member, you can post new messages, reply to other members, quickly check for new messages as well as experience all the benefits available throughout the site.

How do I create a profile for the message boards?

Your profile in the message boards gives you the opportunity to share personal information so other members of our community can get to know you better. In order to create a profile, you must be a registered DrPhil.com member and logged in. To begin, simply click the "My Profile" link at the top of the page and then click on the "Edit Profile" link. Here you can add an image, enlarge the font size of the messages, choose your "mood" for the day, set your viewing preferences to display messages, and make any changes to your personal information.


You can also share information such as your e-mail address, your favorite message board discussions and even more about yourself in your profile bio. Remember, you participate at your own risk when sharing personal information that will be displayed on a message board. To protect your safety, please use your best judgment when using these forums, and consider carefully whether you want to disclose any information that can be used to identify or locate you.

How do I post a message?

To begin posting a message, you must be a registered DrPhil.com member and logged in. Then just click the "Post a Message" link in the particular discussion or group you would like to join. Here you can add a title to your message and begin entering your comments. You can also preview your message and make any necessary changes. Once you submit a post, you can no longer edit or delete it.


Note: Message boards for particular shows require posts to be pre-approved before they appear on the site. Please allow up to a few hours for your message to appear.


You can also reply to a particular message by clicking the "Reply with Quote" link at the bottom of that message. The original message will appear at the top of your reply making it easier for others to follow the conversation.

How do I check for new messages on the message boards?

When logged in, the message boards automatically keep track of new messages since the last time you logged in. Each time you visit a board, you can click the "Show new messages" link on the upper right hand side of the board. Once you've finished reading new messages just click "Show all messages" to return to the original board.

What is "Subscribe to this Topic"?

Once you are logged into the boards, you can bookmark your favorite discussion topics. You do this by clicking the link located under the discussion header that says, "Subscribe to this Topic." These bookmarked discussions will appear both in your profile as well as at the top of the main message boards page for further viewing. If there are any new messages that have been posted since the last time you logged in, the number of new messages will appear after the board title in your subscription list. To read the new messages, just click on that number.

How do I report a problem?

If you find an inappropriate message on the message boards, click the "Report to Staff" link under the message and add a brief message explaining the problem. A moderator will review the message in question. To report technical difficulties, please use the Message Boards/Diaries Support Form.

How do I find replies to my message?

To view replies to your message, click the "Read Replies to this Message" link at the bottom of your message.
