09/12 The N-Word Debate

Quote From: alexisann118

I am watching this show and personally I feel that it is becoming crazy.  More african americans are using the race card now more than ever. It was so long ago it is OVER  african americans keep bringing the sore subject up again and again pouring more salt into the wounds. We also have a victory over Japan day , you do not see Japan raising a bunch of issues over things we had nothing to do with it was not our generation , our parents  generation it was our ancestors just like theres.... Will someone please bring this up. The white people are getting harrassed by this it seems daily.

I am making a quote to your response over the "N" word.  African Americans are using this word as a race card and trying to get over on no one.  I do not know what year you were born, but I can tell you that the "N" word was and has been designed by "White People" to keep "Black People" down.  I do believe you want to do your history on this word.  So do not ever believe that black people are trying to get a cry out to the world on their on behalf.  Blacks have suffered by the hands of whites for many, many years, and it is still going strong.  I do hope you listened very carefully to what the panel was saying.  Unfortunately, white people, excuse me, caucassion people (hope I spelled the word correctly) do not understand how the word has affected blacks.  What Rev. Sharpton and the panel are speaking about is that blacks need to stop using this word among each other.  This word is a very negative word that whites bought about.    And why not pour salt into the wounds of white people?  They do not want to face what was done to blacks.  As for the way whites think....they will always do their best to make the world believe they are the majority.  In this country we have Asians, African Americans, Italians, Indians, etc.  Whites look at these groups as minorities, which means less than.  What gives them the right to believe their are the majority.  This is just one way of them trying to keep everyone down.  Africans Americans are calling themselves minorities.  African Americans are not minorities, Whites are.  But you do not hear them talking about that now do you?  Unfortunately, in this day and age, nothing will change until whites see what they have done.  African Americans only use words that whites use.

Another thing you need to realize.  Every ethic group has to know and learn to ethic groups.  Theirs and whites.  Whites do not know or would learn anything about other ethic group.  They are curious!  So I hope you stop being angry and start learning more about the "N" word and how it came about.

Peace!

You cannot compare a "brief" moment in Japanese history with over 400 years of oppression. NOT HAPPENING!

I wished it was my ancestors.  Jim Crow lasted a long time my friend and still rears his ugly head.  And, how can you in your own head justify what you have done?  African American should always be capitalized.  You capitalized Japan.  What does that say about you?  It is things like this that let us know that it aint OVER. However, to even have this conversation is advancement as painful as it is for me.  I use the word frequently among black folk.  I don't use it around white folk.  The only reason you all know we use it among ourselves is someone slipped outside the culture.  Got quite close to you.  There are words I don't use.  I don't say any of those words used to describe other ethnic groups because I am not a part of that culture. I am still trying to find out which word is acceptable Hispanic or Latino and when to use it because I know how offensive the "n" word is to me outside of my culture.  I respect other cultures and other people.  When I get that from you for real then it will be OVER.   In my culture I know the meaning of the word.  Outside it can mean only one thing to me.

I think Kanye West and the rest of the young folks got something going on we older folk need to take a moment and really investigate.  They are better off than we are because they have intermingled more.  I believe as we mix it up more things won't be what they are today.
