Quote From: jahluvsI've never been interested in politics...never been registered to vote. However, this year, I'm really considering registering. I have the papers to send in.....just a bit nervous about the posibility of having to be called for jury duty and the fact that I don't know that much about politics.
Oh decisions decisions.
I'm going to do my soapbox thing real quick.
Please register and when you do think of the women who came before you who dedicated their time and energy to fight for the right to vote. Think of all the women who came before you who were treated as incapable of making such an important decision, that were supposed to be good little women who knew "their place".
I think of my grandmother who told me stories of the poll tax that they were required to pay. It was meant to keep the poor, the immigrants, people of color and women from being able to vote. She was an "uppity woman" who worked and paid that tax because she felt it was not only a right but an obligation.
You don't have to know much about politics to be able to decide. Go to each candidates website, take everything with a grain of salt and do the best you can.
Susan B. Anthony will be smiling. : )
