10/19 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: jeremiah

The Bible says that man shall not lay with man.  Men should not wear woman's clothes and woman shall not wear men's clothes.  We are to love the sinner, but hate the sin.  We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.  Being gay is a choice and God never makes us do anything we do not want to do.  But we have to what he wants to get into heaven, we are accountable to God for everything we do.
Who says there is a heaven?  Some HUMAN BEING who wrote the Bible and made up an awful lot of rules as a social control in times when people were afraid that thunder and lighting were the angering of the gods....welcome to 2005, when gay people are everywhere and you have to show God that you are as loving and accepting and open as Jesus was---whoops, you are failing!

Yes, I'm acountable to God. Not to you, not to Jesus. It's between He and I.

Being as we're doing the crusty book literally... I'm a woman who doesn't lie with a man...according to the crusty book, I'm okay then right?

Women are REALLY screwed when it comes to clothing then. I wear blue jeans, t-shirts and occasionally a baseball hat (but I don't wear it backwards, there should be some redemption in that, shouldn't there?). Is that men's clothing? Because back when the crusty book was being written (by mortals), men wore floor length open garments that one might call a dress now...so, if I wear a dress...is that men's clothing or women's? How about in countries where men still wear "dresses" I'm from Scotland and we'll remember monks, too. Oooh, nuns wear loose open floor length garments...are they sinning? Or are we just talking about men who shop at Victoria's Secret?

Right now I'm in pyjamas. They're flannel pants and an RVD t-shirts, is that women's clothing or men's?

I'm soooo confused! Please, do tell.

The Biblical references to homosexuality have been addressed so many times - I wish they could be settled once and for all.

One can easily count on the fingers of one hand (and have some left over) the number of references to same-sex unions found in Scripture.

Only one is in the New Testatment Romans I and it has to do with HETEROSEXUALS behaving as homosexuals.

Cor 6-9 uses 'porniea' which simply means fornication which simply means unmarried sex but the culture has seen fit to add the word homosexual to the list. (It used to add masturbation)

Realize of course there was no Jewish, Greek or Aramaic word for homosexual which was coined in the nineteenth century.

If your thing is to quote Tamuldic Law then go Jewish, then we can talk.

Interestingly, we don't hear a lot of Jews ranting about homosexuality.

Oy enough already.

You are presuming that this should be taken literally...

Perhaps it was written about brick laying?
