AMEN!

>applauds< First off, I'd like to say that I agree wholeheartedly with your entire post.

I don't think that the first family should have even been on an episode featuring homosexuality. The issues in that family had little to do with the older daughter's sexual orientation. The most that was there, was that the mother was judging her daughter and this most likely affected their relationship. Unfortunately, this issue was over-shadowed by the intense sibling dispute going on. I think that this family could have gone to a regular psychologist/therapist and things would have been better.

As far as the issue of "gay men turning straight," I don't think anything they could have said in the span of the show really did the subject any justice. For a comprehensive debate on the subject (which is the form that they seemed to be employing), alot of research would have had to be done for anyone to make a relevent point. It seems that the "converted" man had a very mature view of what factors could lead into being homosexual (in terms of nurture). So you'd think that this man would also have the intelligence and maturity to view other sides of the arguments the same way.

Really, I suppose the whole show was a waste fo time. Except that it got all of these people talking...  .

That woman in the first set was just like my younger sister.  I know and have carried on a worked with in the past gay people, they knew my feelings on it.   I treated them no different and we carried on a normal friendship/working relationship.  Their sexuality was not who they were, but who they chose to sleep with.  We carried on in a positive normal relationship.  There is more there than being gay for sure!
