Quote From: rlanthierCondemnation on sexual morality distinguishes the 'Bible',evangelical Christian. They imply that Jesus came down from heaven primarily to make sure everybody was having proper and righteous sex. Yet Jesus never mentions sex. He certainly never mentioned homosexuality, once. For a sin that is so serious , it seems a serious omission on His part. He does mention hypocrisy, greed, greed and greed, however, but the condemning fire and brimstone Christians don't seem to be particularily moved by those admonitions. The few and I emphasize FEW references to homosexuality in the Bible are mostly from the Old Testament- Leviticus. If we are to embrace Leviticus we also need to embrace orthodox Judaism, eat only kosher foods etc... That pretty much leaves Romans I. Romans I is followed necessarily by Romans II and I quote:
Therefore, you are without excuse, every one of you who passes judgment. 2 For by the standard by which you judge another you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the very same things.

This is obviously by way of a conclusion to the first chapter. So condemning Christians- consider yourselves warned.

The real reason that there is so much condemnation of "male" homosexuality in the Hebrew Bible, and the very similar Koran is the obsession with "Male Supremacy" in those books. Male homosexuality is what elicits so much animosity. I believe it has more to do with male homosexuals being viewed as traitors to this male supremacist myth, rather than sin. Barely anything is said about female homosexuality. The recurring message from both the Bible and the Koran is basically: Male=Superior...Female=Inferior. Generally, there's a fanatical obsession with gender (sex) anyway. What does that tell you?
It tells me that the Bible and Koran were authored by men. Ancient men living in a time when virtually nothing was known of the Universe. Men who wrote from a perspective of human egocentricity, although perhaps well meaning. These men would have been totally self absorbed with human gender superiority - thus the concept in both books of a Patriarch God was invented. A
God "created in the image and likeness of Man" - read that "male."
The men of those times obviously could not conceive of a Universal source of creation. The impersonal, non-judgmental, unconditionally loving, Conscious Energy of the Universe that is the true GOD. A God not limited by human-type personality, negative emotions, or gender. Doesn't anybody get it that most of the judgment and condemnation in the Bible comes from the prejudices of the male authors of those ancient times? And as for the authors of the New Testament, they wrote scripture about Jesus, never having known Him personally. The so called Christian Religion was started many decades after Jesus' death. There is nothing written directly by Jesus, everything was hear say. I'm sure as you've said in your post, Jesus never mentioned homosexuality or sex. And I know from reading the original Classical Greek of the New Testament that neither Homosexuality nor anything referring to it is ever mentioned in the Greek text.
The Bible thumpers on this forum with their blind faith condemnations, have obviously dispensed with any form of logical, critical thinking. They probably believe that the earth is the center of the Universe, that it was literally created just 6,000 years ago, and that humans are the highest, most complex forms of life in the Universe.. Logic and common sense tells me otherwise.
