10/23 killer texting

Quote From: firehouseoic

The truth is that texting while driving doesn't just take your eyes off the road, but your mind also.  You can't help it.  Even if you feel like you are still paying full attention to the road and traffic, processes are occuring in your brain while you are texting that can only be controlled by simply not doing anything else besides focusing fully on driving.  We must make people realize this.  Save a life today.

Exactly.  And if they are kids in the cars and driving and are caught by an accident or ticket, I say remove the cars.  They can text while they are walking. And if they are driving mom/dad car, take it away.  Bet that will straighten them up. Parents MUST BE RESPONSIBLE if they agree to let the kids take a 3,000 lbs weapon onto the streets and do not demand them to do right.  I also believe manufactturers can assist in stop making cars moving living rooms.  They are just transportation from point A to point B.  No one has been saved by a DVD movie in a car; they have been by seat belts and bags.  What more do you need?

You have to think yourself as so important to think you must immediately do this.  I know when I take the Metrolink in/home each day, people will be on their phones LOUD and just carrying on conversation.  Nothing important but trying to appear important.  Same with the drivers and you see them on the freeways, self absorbed.

When I had drivers ed in school, my teacher had Coroner's Corner.  He got pictures from the County Coroner and put them up for us to see every class.  Let me tell you, that is reality.

Texting while driving

Hi, I live in Australia or the land down under, we have just watched the show Texting while driving. Sorry we are a little behind down here!!!!! But I have watched the show with frustration at it's up most. Down here in Australia it is illegal to text, answer, call or talk on a mobile phone in any state of Australia. The penalty's are harsh in all state's. Let me spell it out!!!!   L platers (Learners Drivers) these people have to display a Bright Yellow L Plate on the car (front and back) with a full license driver in the passenger seat. For picking up a cell phone for any reason in a car while driving and getting caught instant dismissal of license. And a $300.00 fine. Probationary drivers (there's two types) first Red P Platers these people have to display a red P plate (front and back) of the car for one year. This is to let drivers on the road know they are NEW drivers. Penalty for cell phone use in a car same as a L Plater. Also they are only allowed to have 1 pillion passenger at any time while driving. Instant loss of license if caught with any more people in the car. Then there's Green P platers same as the other platers only they have to display there plates for a further three years. They may have more people in the car but it is still an instant dismissal of license and a heavy fine if caught on the cell phone. Full license drivers we get 12 points if caught on the cell phone in the car for any reason you can loose anything from 3 to 6 points and $300.00 fine. You don't get those points back for 3 years and if you loose all 12 points goodbye license, for a period of time. Maybe America needs to get a little more strict on the laws when it comes to cell phones, it saves lives they proved it down here. People soon learn to live with the laws. Kangarooogirl
