Good Point Mr. Lion:

Quote From: mr_lion

Did you ever have a wedding, perhaps a church wedding, any kind of PUBLIC wedding?  If the answer is YES, then you've gone public about your relationship.

Do you let anyone know you have a husband?   If the answer is YES, then you've gone public about a significant other..

Do you have children, biological or otherwise?   Does anyone, anywhere know that you have children?  If YES, then you've indeed gone public about your sex life.

If a same-sex couple answered YES to any of the above, they'd immediately be accused of flaunting their sexuality.

Hey let's go have a coffee together? Hugs!

This post is addressed to all the younger Christian members here (< 40 years old) who are so totally against homosexuality for supposed reasons stated in the Bible. Once again I won't go into the religious aspect of this debate at all.

Christians have used the Bible to block so many minorities from obtaining equal rights in the US. I am addressing this to you because you were not born when these things happened. Like what issues did some Christians try to block with their Bible:

  • Desegration
  • Freedom for POC (people of color) to marry and then a hundred or so years later the right to marry outside their race
  • The ERA Equal Rights Amendment~which would have guaranteed women complete equality in the US
  • Women's Right to Vote in the US
  • African American Right to Vote in the US
  • Freedom to Choose whether or not to have a child
  • POC Right to Read- Tis true!
  • Women's Right to Work

These are just a few rights that some Christians fought very hard to prevent and in some cases were successful, unfortunately. I was alive and with a thoughtful mind when some of these issues were raised and argued about. I saw the news and the folks with the Bibles in their hands trying to prevent some Americans from being granted their basic civil rights. And many examples that were used against the minorities mentioned above are appearing right here in this topic about Homosexuality.

Could you take a break from reading the Bible and read the US Constitution. Why am I asking you to do this? Because it reflects what is coming down the road, how fruitless it is to argue against it, what a waste of time and energy it is to fight it.

There WILL be full Equality for Homosexuals in the United States. And there is nothing much you can do to turn the tide against it. It IS going to happen. The only question is WHEN. And I am doing everything in my power as a member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgendered Community to see that it happens sooner and not later.

So I won't engage in arguing with any of you about who is right and who is wrong; it is pointless. What I do engage in is educating people about the true meaning of homosexuality and what it is like as a lesbian living in this country as a second class citizen.

The only thing that matters is we chose to love and say no to hate and denying others their rights as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.
