Do I think they went too far- yeah. They could have just written a ticket and released her. Ask any parent who has had something bad to their child- they all thought it would never happen them.
The fact that her older children wanted to donate is admirable, but it could have waited...
I don't believe this incident makes her a bad parent, just a parent who made a bad decision (although she did mention that she does this in quite a few situations)
