Watching this show today, i am so depressed by the recent loss of contact of my granddaughter. I realize she is turning a teenager in a few days, and they do change during this period. However, myself and my son have not seen her in almost five months....and she lives in the same small town. She or her mother will not answer their phones.........But i would like to suggest another subject along these lines. My son became a father at eighteen years old [with the granddaughter i just spoke of]. He gave up a full football scholarship to be here with her. But, he had a son with his ex-wife eight years ago. He has always paid his support for these two children. However , when he and his wife divorced they had an agreement on support with his son amounting to $200 per month, as he had him with him as much as she did. Well, along the line she moved in with another man, and when his support came up for review, instead of sticking with the agreement she decided to have it raised. It was raised to $540 per month. The mother of his daughter has never asked for a raise in her support. Now, he had gotten a much better job, and was living in the home that she abandoned and was doing well with the support and being able to have more recreation with the kids and able to buy more for them. Now, he is just short of a pauper since hes paying almost $1,000 per month. To date he has paid $10,400 this year. I suppose you're wondering what the real problem is. Since this change in support she has moved into a much nicer home and purchased two new cars!!!!! She and her live-in are police officers in the neighboring city. Dont you think that it is unfair to expect my son to provide her live-in a new home and a new car? I really cant go into the entire story, but she works so very hard to make him unhappy. The state needs to find out how much of the child support actually goes to the children. Perhaps this would be a good subject for a future show.
