Forced to Be a Deadbeat Dad

Quote From: iroc66

I just hope this show shines a light on child support. I live in SD and my child is in Ca. I have a support order for 1100 per month they take half my pay check every 2 week and that dosent cover the monthly child support bill, So there is now back child support and on top of that Ca charges 10% interest on back child support.I went to get it modified and the state said I would have to pay more because my ex wife was remarried and they make over 100,000 per year and that puts them in a higher tax bracket. That means my child support would go up? Whats wrong with this picture? I am 43 years old and my kids are reaching will be 18 in a year or two. With back child support and the intrest I will still be paying child support for the next 25 years.I owe the state of Ca 12,000 dollars in interest because my 9-5 job dosent cover the monthly bill.
I agree wholeheartedly with Dr. Phil's comments on the show.  The lawyer representing the divorced man was campaigning as if men were being wronged in someway.  Unfortunately, statistics show that historically it is the women who live with, support and raise the children who end up on the losing end time and time again.  I would like to see the statistics of men who actually pay child support on a consistent and regular basis who were denied access to their kids.  I bet it is less than 25% in total.  But what are the statistics of men who aren't paying child support at all for the kids they are making???  I bet it is more than 50%.

How is this situation fair?

Dr. Phil, why don't you do a show on how crooked the system is, and how father's; trying thier best are being screwed, and mother's not trying at all are the beneficiaries? DOn't get me wrong, I know there are plenty of dad's NOT paying child support - my ex-husband is one of them! But there are also plenty of dad's that DO so the mother's can sit aroud and collect a check, and for what? The court syatem has continually allowed my ex to "get away" with not paying child support - we have been in litigation for two years and I haven't seen a dime, so now I'm out child support and lawyers fee's; and here's the kicker: HE THREATENS ME WITH JAIL IF I WON'T LET HIM SEE THE KIDS, real fair. There is so much greed and laziness out thereit makes me sick! Why don't you do a show about that?
