Quote From: blgspcI wanted to extend a genuine heartfelt 'Thank You' for your willingness to share your own personal experience.
You are bravely, courageously and quite successfully dealing with a BEAR of a disorder! To be willing to speak so candidly about something as personal as Schizophrenia is inspiring! Your tenacity in sticking with the treatment necessary to manage this very difficult disorder is also inspiring.
I heard you speak of the negative things the voices were telling you about you in doing the show. YOU WERE FABULOUS!!!!!
I too am the daughter of a mother who has Schizophrenia and while neither I nor my identical twin have ever experienced the disorder, I can ASSURE you that I would not have handled MYSELF as well as you did on that stage!!!!
Thanks, Again,
Brenda
Mary, I agree with Brenda's comments wholeheartedly....you were great on the show. Thank you so much for being brave enough to come on and share your story. I can't imagine what you must go through on a day to day basis. Kudos to you for fighting this so hard and being so determined to be there for your family. Your husband seems wonderful, understanding, and supportive. I went through depression a few years back and couldn't understand why my husband stayed....he said, "Well, if you had cancer I wouldn't leave....just because THIS disease is in your brain instead of your body doesn't make a difference at all, I will be here to help you through it."
I admit when I heard the term "schizophrenic", I pictured a person in a strait jacket in a padded room. I didn't know any better. I appreciate so much that you shared your story and made America realize that there are people like you, functioning with this disease every day, and doing a spectacular job at it. I wish you the very best.
