The show was about a serious mental illness. An illness which is not a possession by a religious demon. Maybe Dr. Phil should do a segment on demon possession at a later date.
I am not denying there are instances where this could be a medical condition. However, I strongly urge anyone who suffers from this to meet with a Christian Counselor and read The Bondage Breaker.
