You're obviously not Catholic. You just replied to a Deacon who made it clear to you what an annulment is. I did not see any respect on your part for this man to whom you replied.
This man on the show would not have been able to receive communion in the Catholic Church if indeed he only got a legal divorce. He would be committing adultery if he didn't seek an annulment to then marry his current wife within the Church and in the eyes of God. He obviously loves his current wife with all of his heart. They showed his wife sitting at the table with him and they both made the sign of the cross. If she wasn't Catholic or seeking to be Catholic in the future (if she's not now) then she wouldn't have made the sign of the cross.
In a Sacramental marriage, which is Holy Matrimony, God is to come first. That is the only way that a marriage can survive. This man obviously loves Jesus so much that he wants to receive Him in Holy Communion; the Most Blessed Sacrament. Now, if this man still wanted to receive Jesus in the most Blessed Sacrament and did NOT seek an annulment, then he and his current wife would have to live as brother and sister. Otherwise they would be committing a mortal sin; adultery. There are more factors here to take into consideration for them to receive Holy Communion and not commit a sacrilege. But that is another matter that is none of our business. If they are engaging in the act of love without birth control that they could still receive communion. But if the wife is on artificial birth control, or if the man had surgical birth control, then his annulment was for nothing because they would still be committing adultery. That is another subject matter altogether.
9 But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother's wife he spilled the semen on the ground, lest he should give offspring to his brother. 10 And what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD, and he slew him also. Gen 38:9, 10
