A single man beyond some age around 35 is viewed as being pathological (he's gay, can't commit, refuses to "grow up", is hopelessy attached to his mother, etc, etc) while an exactly equivalent woman is merely "picky" -- which is really a compliment because we all know the opposite of picky is "easy".
This sexist double standard is the worst one out there IMO.
