demonic activity is allowed when we allow sin into our lives.   Sin may be repented of or if it continues, complete possession is possible.  Even in these cases, faith and trust in Jesus Christ is the solution.  Christ has done all that is necessary for us to be free from Satan's bondage when He paid for the sin of man on the cross by shedding His blood for which He was not guilty.  Each individual must turn away from his or her own personal sin nature. (repentance) " ... the Father... who hath delivered us from the power of darkness and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son:  in whom we have redemption through His blood even the forgiveness of sins."  Colossians 1:12-14..
