Sleep Paralysis

Quote From: liatsunami

I think you've touched on something here.  That's why earlier I said people with these problems need to be evaluted for pyschological and physical problems.  I used to think I saw ghosts, heard voices, etc... Then my Dr. found out I have narcolepsy which can cause things called "hynogogic hallucinations".  Which always seem VERY real, like a waking dream., and occur at the onset of sleep and during sleep.  Also other health problems can cause visual and auditory hallucinations durking WAKING hours.  The type of hallucinations or "visions" you suffer often mirror internal conflicts or things in your subconcious that are bothering you.  A lot of times emotions that you hold back are released and effect what you see.

I think most of the guests could benefit from a work up from a physical Dr. and a mental health professional.

I too have had many very similar episodes.  I thought it to be demonic.  I still believe it to be so, this is why, the last episode I gathered all of the energy I could muster and cried out for Jesus to help me and within one second the paralysis was lifted.  I know he helped me, it only took for me to cry out his name.  Then you might ask why me and not others?  After many days of pondering this question I truly believe that becuase I am a Christian and I love learning about God's word I may be a target.  It seems to happen most when I am upset about something and I think I am most vulnerable.  I know to many this sounds rediculous, but until you experience this horrible paralysis you wont know what I am talking about.  I am very glad that you believe medication helps but please, If it ever happens again try and ask the Lord for help.

This reply from Kitashia, was interesting. I thought for years I had some type of mental disorder. From a little girl up, I have on several occassions, seen ghosts or some type of polterguiest (sp?). As I reached 40 and over, I had a very traumatic experience in my life.. I started to have bad nightmares, in which I would see dark figures entering my bedroom while I was sleeping, I would wake to see them approach me and they told me if they ever caught me I would die. There were many times, I would scream for my husband, grab him and jump over him to get out of his side of the bed for safety from these figures. I NEVER lay on my back, but one night I just happened to roll over on my back and one of them came onto me and attacked me, of course I didn't die but then realized that it had to be some type of hormonal thing or stress, which I do believe it was. I haven't experienced these dreams in quite a long time now. I Pray alot more than I used to and have always trusted the Lord for everything, but I find that if I put God first nothing can step between us. I am so glad these nightmares have a name, and moreso, it's just nice to be able to share!
