Although Richard has questioned and commented that he too may be AS hearing you say it stopped him cold. His concern was what made you see it. We have thought he might have a milder case then Alex because he is typically laid back which puts the majority of Alex's control in my lap (which makes me angry!).
You may know someone may have a problem but not knowing for sure or how to handle it can destroy the dynamics of the family. As Rich redraws the tension builds between us and I am sure that affects Alex. When Alex goes over the edge it triggers both of us. In the scene you saw Rich went over the edge with him and I tried to stop it, but it often can be the other way around.
I lived in a home where load voices and yelling was part of life, and yet we knew it was short term and anger was limited. So loud demanding speaking is part of my personality. But the meltdowns we experience is not part of it and we plan to get help to change it.
