The 2nd part of your post makes even less sense. Your history (exept for the very recent couple of hundred years) is the same as the European history. For the very simple fact that your country didn't exist before then and most of the first "Americans" came from Europe. And no, if we do bash America it has nothing to do with history, but everything with this "we are the best" attitude that many of you seem to have. Get it into your thick skulls, you are not the best! Stop abusing your power and stop spreading so much hatred. Thanks to your "war on terror" I'm not safe on my own street. America has angred so many people that they are even attacking my country to show you how angry they are (pretty pissed off really!). Before this "war", I was perfectly safe, but not anymore. Thanks America!
Also, not many Europeans will have tried to enter the US illegally as we are allowed to enter legally. In fact, we don't even need a visa! Or do you think Europe is the same as Africa, Asia, South America, etc? Now that wouldn't surprise me, coming from an American....Ha! Ha! Use your 401K to get some education...
Your constitution is even abused by your own President. Isn't the NSA "eavesdropping" on Americans and didn't Bush say that this was a "vital tool against terrorism"? I'm sure the constitution and the law says that this is not allowed......Oh, and how much does your President care for "missing" Americans? He never mentiones them in any speach and he hasn't mentioned Natalee's name once....With so many Americans missing in your own country, it would take him weeks to mention them all! And that's not even including the amount of Europeans and other foreigners missing in the US!
And finally, my daughter will NEVER be allowed to travel to NYC on her own. And even if she did, she would know better not to get drunk and get into a car with 3 strangers. Simple and common sense really! Wow another European dissing America... I am stunned. The only thing that saddens me about the Europeans is that there are more than 100,000 American graves in the American Cemetary at Luxembourg of those that gave their lives to save these pathetic little countries from the Nazi Regime 50+ years ago. If we are so bad then why are we continually asked for "help" monetary or military everytime one of these countries is in some kind of trouble? You all are about as useless as a harmonica player in war time anyway. So glad you have such a selective memory in regard for all that America has done or not done. I for one wish that we would stop pouring money into countries abroad that hate the U.S. As for President Bush, he stands by what he says and backs it up. Not like these scared mealy mouthed politically correct stooges that would sell out their own mother rather than stand up and do what is right. I don't think the Iraqi's are sad that Saddam is gone... do you? I haven't seen many people on CNN demonstrating to put him back in power. Try democracy and free enterprise and see how that works for you. Socialism and communism are so backward and oppressive. I don't think you have education or a 401K in your future based on your thoughtless remarks. Natalee Holloway's mom deserves answers and will hopefully get them with the help of a boycott and her attorney. This Steve Cohen is just like you... full of bull and hot air with no substance. |

Simple and common sense really! Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion and I was not going to reply to this until I read the last 2 sentences. I think "simple and common sense really" is extremely insensitive and appalling. I don't know anyone who has not made a decision that was later regretted. It seems to me that you are missing the point of this situation. A teenage girl is missing. If you could name some cases where "missing Europeans" are missing and the US government had handled the case in the way the Aruban government has, then I assure you that the people on these boards would be up in arms about that too. We only ask that Natalee Holloway's family be treated with the respect they deserve. I will not nor will my family or friends travel to Aruba because of the way this has been handled.
It seems to me that you are proud to be a citizen of your country. I am proud to be an American. This does not mean that I think "we are the best." Our country has problems like any other, but I would not live anywhere else. I have greatly enjoyed my visits to European countries. I found most of the people welcomed me with open and arms and were extremely friendly. I tried my best to speak the language, be courteous, and respect the views of the country I was in. Hopefully by doing this, I was not spreading "hatred." I try my best not to put a label on a group of people and resent when someone does that to me. America is made up of all people from all different races, countries, religions, etc. This includes people from your own country. |

Simple and common sense really! You may travel to the US on just your passport unless you are staying more than 90 days and then you do need a visa.
Unfortunately Americans were unsafe and targets well before the War on Terror.
I'm really sorry that you have such a view of Americans. I think most people all over the world have the same hopes and dreams for themselves and their children.
As for the President and the eavesdropping, their are provisions in the law about national security. Our previous President Clinton also used the same provision.
As far as the President and Natalee. I'm not sure the connection or what your criticism of the president is, that he doesn't care about people? I strongly disagree with you on that. I'm sure you don't have as much coverage of our president as we do, especially in Europe, I suspect much of the press is negative so you don't have perhaps as balanced or fair view of him.

I think it is particularly cold-blooded and frankly classless to start criticizing Natalee's (or anyone's) looks at a time when she may be maimed, kidnapped or murdered. How is that relevant? Your cruel words belie your intent on this board and that is to wholesale slag any and all Americans, even a helpless victim.
Also, you claim that it is because of the "war on terror" that they (I presume you mean Muslims) are attacking your country and you are not safe on your own street. Nice try! If there have been attacks in your country it is because of the racism and attacks directed at Muslims by some of your regressive countrymen. Yet again, you undercut your own credibility by making such a baseless and misleading claim. Perhaps Americans should donate some of their 401k's towards your edification!
I'll sum up your bile-driven post in two words "sour grapes".
Natalee Holloway's family have every right to demand justice and accountability regardless of what country the crime occurred in. I don't see them as trying to impose US laws there. I think they're just asking Aruba to step up and treat this like any apparently civilized nation would.
I cannot imagine any greater torment for a parent than to have a child missing. My heart goes out to that family.

I didn’t read anything in Yahootie’s post that denies that MANY even most of our ancestors were European. Yes, our country is a youngster compared to many others. A lot of your tirade seems irrelevant, bitter and hate-filled!!! If your post is based in fact and you are angry and feeling threatened by the DECISIONS OF THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT, and dislike ‘Americans’, why are you listing your country as “US” under your profile??? Get some guts and get honest!!! If you really dislike the spread of hatred then stop spreading it!!! The issue is that a 19 year old girl is missing! Her family, her friends, her community, her state and her nation as a people want to know what happened to her and are willing to boycott, rattle some cages, do some shouting and NOT DROP the issue until Natalee is either returned alive or for burial!!!
