03/30 Is This Normal?
Quote From: jessicaleeI am a mother of 2 children ages 9 and 11, an also a mommy of 2 dalmation's. I believe that dalmations are very loving dogs. My dalmations are very large both of them weigh over 120lbs and I can honestly say that i trust them around not only my children but the ones who live around us. We have had SAM for over 8 years and domino for over 5 and we would not give them up for the world. When my kids we younger they would get on there backs and ride them around the house. Never once did they boys snap at my children. I believe that they way a dog reacts to somethings is all in how you raise them. On your show today it was very sad that the dog did bite the litte girl. However please don't make it seem that all dalmations are bad. I am a mother of a 6 month old and have a 10yr old deaf dalmation. I agree that how a dog reacts to somethings is determined on how they are raised. My son can lie on the floor with the dog, or shall I say the dog lies on the floor with him, and he can pull her ears, coller, and poke her eyes and she falls asleep. Dr. Phil mentioned that becouse the dog is deaf it is a little more weary or jumpy. This is not always the case. My dog has been deaf since birth and is in no way hindered, or startled. All her other senses are very hightened. Her eyes have great perifial vision and she feels vibrations in the floor when something is coming, even the baby. She is also so well trained she plays in the yard without a leash or fence. She also interacts with the neighbours 2 yrs old with caution. It is very sad that the dog bit the little girl. But not all dalmations are poor with kids even the deaf ones.
