Hallelujah

People will bend over backwards to help you if you treat them nicely and with respect. I get business referred to me all the time because people consider me pleasant to work with. There is no reason to be bitchy to get what you want when you can get more doing it nicely!

People are soooo negative these days, and I firmly believe negativity breeds negativity.  I have worked with, and for Bs, and grew up with one for a mother (but who also suffers from mental illness), which makes me wonder do these women not have a personality disorder.  Interestingly enough, they display characteristics of a histrionic personality, or narcisstic personality, or borderline personality.  I recognize, too, some people are just plain m-e-a-n.  My husband has spoiled me with a nice car, and one of my favorite features is a sunscreen across the rear window.  I can push a button and it raises itself to cover the whole window.  Drivers like Kristine become NO problem -- I don't have to suffer with their rudeness and gestures.  The looks on their faces when I raise the screen is priceless.

I agree with you, that if you are mindful of others -- isn't that the Golden Rule we used to recite in school? -- you get just about anything you want/need.  I have worked with "bitchy" administrators (men, too, as a matter-of-fact) who couldn't pay me enough to get a job done, whereas, had I been treated with respect and/or just simple human decency, whatever, I'd have killed myself in an attempt to get the job done.  I've contended I want to go to business/education school and take the courses that teach people mishandling, abusive practices such as "shi**# - memo writing, threats and harrassment.  I've worked with plenty in an administrative position who I'd swear learned it somewhere!
