Enjoying the mystery and magic of Christmas morning with the sparkle in a child's eye as they marvel at their gifts can't be compared to stealing a person's social security number, opening a credit card account, charging it up all the way and not paying a penny. To compare the two isn't logical or rational..... the only thing I see in your post is a person scrounging around for an excuse for themself. A child would have a bigger sparkle knowing the blessings they receive on Xmas morrning came from parents and family that love them not a complete stranger. A lie is a lie rationalizing a lie doesn't make it ok. Children grow into adults and if you're told its ok to lie on one occasion why not ok for all. I don't need an excuse for myself. As I try to look at things from every vantage point not only the ones I agree with and everyones opinion is valid even when they don't agree w/mine or yours. By the way I have 6 very happy kids and they didn't need Santa Claus , etc. So quit being a sourpuss.
