02/28 On the Outs With In-Laws

Quote From: csen2000

My Mother in Law as well as my sisters in law didn't like me. Not at all.  My husband is 19 years older and they figured I was out for his money.  We never lived together til we were married.
WHen I got pregnant 8 years after we met and started planning to get married, one of my sisters in law and mother in law told my husband to get a paternity test.

Needless to say the baby looks just like him.

Anyway I took care of the mother in law til her dying day as she lived with us.  I was the one that cared for her and one  time my sister in law got in my face saying i was not doing enough for her. After all she is "your mother in law"  she told me...I stepped up and told her yes she is but she is your mother.  We still don't get along..
All I want is a thank you from my sisters in law for caring for my Mother in law while she was bed ridden for the last year of her life.....while I had a new born and 2 yo.    My mother in law disliked me til the day she died.  Tho i was her primary care giver.

I am sorry to hear that your MIL did not see the beautiful DIL  that she had.  Your husband and children will benefit from this loving sacrifice that you gave.  I believe,  "That what you put out in life is what you get back."

My husband's mother went though the same thing with her MIL and as a result my husband is a devouted son and I have the best MIL in world.  She looked after me for 6 monthes when I had a high risk pregnancy.  I can't wait for her to live with us permantly. ( She lives overseas)she is just a great person to be around.  Something said to me when I was young was, "heaven for any child is at the feet of their mother."   Never understood this really.  Other then children love their mother's.  Now I see that if I want my future grandchildren to be happy I must make sure that my Future DIL is happy and supported by me.

I truly believe this life experenice will make you a better wife, mother and future grandmother, and MIL.

All I can say is that you have a lot of class which your sisters in law do not.  Don't fret another day over them, they aren't worth it.  You're a much better person than they are; they obviously have the same character as their mother.  Bless you for caring for a woman who disliked you, IMO, this was her loss, not yours.  You should sleep very well at night!!
