04/21 Baby Wars

Quote From: bwisdom

Why do women get all of the chocies? Yes we ALL know what causes pregnacy and we all know how to prevent it. But WHY IN THE WORLD DO WOMEN GET ALL THE CHOCIES? Yeah, I know... It's your body. Well it's his life also. And no it's not the baby's fault, it's the man and woman's fault. Yet the woman has a choice to have or not have the baby. (Either way the child will be effected. By not having a father or having one who dosen't want him/her.) What if we start thinking about the tables being turned? What if the man wants the baby but the woman wants to have an abortion? What then? If women have choices, men should have choices. We as women want to be equals. We have faught for so long, and are still fighting, for our rights to be considered equals. Yet, we want to have the rules one way when it's in our favor and the other way when it's not??!! We can't have it both ways. We either consider the child a child and treat this child as if it were out of the womb OR we decide it's a choice and it's not a child until post-womb. We can't have both. We can't be selfish just because it's our bodies, just because we're the womb. Either it's a choice or it's not! After that is decided, then if it's a choice the man should have his choice, if it's not a choice and it's a child, then a father he should be able to refuse or use his parential rights! Brandy W, KS
Actually I think both women and men are selfish when they willing and ready to have the pleasure of sex and then when a child comes into the picture, they decide that the child is a mistake and not worth coming into the world. What I think about men is also what I think about women, if you don't want a baby then don't have sex and take chances or go get your self to the doctor and get fixed. I think if you are gonna lie down and have sex then you should be woman and man enough to take care of the responsibilities of the outcome..yes, sex is pleasureable and should be as I believe that it was created to be great but also for a husband and wife to enjoy one another as they have become one and sex was also created to create new life, it all goes hand in hand and if people, men and women would start respecting sex for what it was meant to be, then there wouldn't be these unwanted babies and the babies would grow up to be loved, respected and given a positive chance in the world. Children should not be conceived out of greed and out of control hormones, but out of love and they should and have the right to be wanted................................

While I think men should have their responsibility too, I agree with what you're saying.  Women have fought long and hard to have a choice on whether or not to have the child they are carrying ( Whether it's abortion or adoption- although I think adoption is a better choice so it's gives the kid a chance).  People say "Then he shouldn't have sex with the woman".  Sex is a two way street (Unless it's rape).

Please, no hate replies. I'm not making a fight, just an opinion.  Men should live up to their responsibilities as women (Or give their baby a good home or whatever's right for the situation), but the whole thing is so one sided.

Yes, I'm a woman.

You're exactly right. Its sexist to claim that women should only get choices and men only get consequences. That view, in fact, infantalises women, so its really the ultimate not just in

misandry, but in misogyny, too.

Granted, men and women cannot be fuly equal in this area, that is, if a man wants a child, he does need to procure a willing woman who wnats to do that with him. That should be the standard for both men and for women, even though women can, biologically speaking, go it alone, after they

get some sperm. But, as with many other htings, that we can do a thing, does not mean that we should do it. The data on the harms to children of being made deliberately fatherless is massive,

and unrefutable. If some man hating women say " we don't need men ", then I say back, " fine,

do so without our sperm and money, too. Thats... consistant ".

Men have more choices than they realize.  Put on a condom, don't have sex.  There are two.  If a man has sex without a condom regardless of whether his partner says she is on birth control or can't have children, he is responsible for what happens after that.  If he can't take the heat, stay out of hte bedroom.    What saddens me greatly is that someday Dr. Phil's guest will want to take part in his daughters life and she will see what a jerk he was and he will lose out on a lot more than the $500 a month he's losing now.  And I don't think $500 is even enough if you figure in medical expenses, food, clothing, shelter, diapers, wipes, crib, carseat.....

Wait a minute, Brandy.  The "equal" thing is the most over abused word in the dictionary of humans.  We are more than "equal."  The reasons are:  1).  We give birth;  2).  We can feed our offspring; and  3).  We can bleed for an entire week and NOT die.  If these things don't make us AT LEAST equal, then I don't know what does!  It is time that you look at the whole picture, and stop acting like a hostile woman toward women.  Some of what you say makes sense, but most of it I do not agree with, as I am sure most feel the same.  Do not talk about abortion, as your government is trying to do away with it.  Roe vs. Wade may be overturned.  Or, haven't you been listening?  Thanks for your comments, but no thanks.

Men have the choice not to have sex, the choice to use a condom, and a choice to have a operation to prevent them from making a baby. Why should a woman have to have an abortion. Why should she have to live the rest of her life with the knowlodge that she killed her baby. Why should she have to have the nightmares. And all the horrible things that come with abortion. Why does she have that choice because its her body that may get an infection from an abortion. It is her mind that has to live with the guilt. Thats why she has that choice it is her body. He has the choice to be safe about it. So men can go stick there things where ever they want and not put on a condom because it dont feel as good. Please!! That is just in sane.

I could not have said it better myself.  We as women have fought long and hard for our reproductive rights.  I don't agree that women should be able to hold all the cards and make all the decisions where bringing an unplanned and often unwelcomed baby into this world.  I feel that if a "sperm donor" does not want to become a father and the woman decides to keep the baby, the "sperm donor" should be able to sign away his rights and not be obligated to pay child support.  Let the woman raise the baby on her own.  No man should be forced into paying for a child he doesn't want.   In the end the child will ultimately pay the price.

You're absolutely right!

There should be equal decisions made, but what can be done about disagreements on having children. Nothing but unfair laws. Thats why there is so much birth control. It's sad if you think about it. Children are miracles, making a baby takes a man and a woman. So really; find someone you love and do the right thing. Make a miracle!

Men get this first big choice: unzip or keep it zipped. If the man decides to unzip, then he loses all rights to any choices if there are any consequences.

No one has any choices if they get AIDS... why should they have any choices if they have a child? Your choice to have sex means you fully understand the ramifications of your actions. So sad, too bad, you had a kid, now deal with it. You don't get to have your cake and eat it too...
