Quote From: stupormomAgain, I think you misunderstood me. I copied and pasted this straight from my previous post so you could read it again:
"Dressing your kids in playclothes when they are playing and getting messy absolutely doesn't disregaurd anything. I think you misunderstood me. I was refering to the comments stating that a two year old is not an infant, and is therefore a big kid."
I am not saying that how you dress a child disregaurds a thing. So many posts have stated that this child is a big kid since he is no longer a baby, and I am simply trying to remind them that there is a stage between infancy and "big kid". This particular comment was about how we view children of this age, and had nothing to do with how we dress them. That's all. And again, for the record, my little guy wears jeans and T shirts, sweat suits, etc... most of the time. The dressy classic outfits of which we speak are (in my case, and I believe, Christis's) for church and special occasions. What is the problem with that? Would your daughter wear jeans and a T shirt to church, a wedding, as a guest at a holiday dinner etc...? An event at which a pouffy, flowery, lacy dress is appropriate attire for a little girl, jon jons, shortalls, and the like are appropriate attire for a little boy... I DIDN'T say anything was wrong with it, as a matter of fact I repeatedly said people can dress their kids how they want. It's not my style. I think it looks a little silly, but maybe you think my kid looks silly, whatever, live and let live.
I just don't understand why suddenly the majority of america dresses their boys in "big boy clothes"...when they AREN'T big boy clothes. They are toddler clothes. That is the style of clothes toddlers wear most commonly now days. I keep getting comments that there is something wrong with that.

See, this is where we simply disagree, I DON'T think that attire is appropriate for toddler boys. But that is MY opinion. And your opinion is that it is appropriate. I think it looks silly and girlish and baby-ish...that is MY opinion, someone stated that they saw a little boy in a little suit and that they were laughing at this little boy behind his back because they though he looked silly, and that is THEIR opinion....Opinions are just that, everyone gets to have them.
But just because a person doesn't dress thier little boy in one of these type of outfits for a fancy occasion and they choose one of the other styles out there doesn' t mean they are disregaurding thier age. The clothes are made for that age, they look cute to a lot of people since that is what the majority of stores sell. Supply and demand. People for the most part like thier toddlers dressed in pants and shirts. It's not disreguarding a stage of life.
And I don't recall anyone saying a 2 year old is a big kid....I just recall people saying 2 isn't a baby.
