My mother was a SAHM as well and it did our family good to know that when we got home from school, she was there for us. Money was always tight, but my siblings and I never did without.
Dad worked very hard to put food on our table, but Mum managed the finances and decided what the food was. She took us to any place we wanted to go and made sure we were always dressed appropriately. With her as my example, I never thought I would be anything else. My children are my life and I can't imagine being anywhere else.
I'm also very lucky to have a husband who lets me be just what I want to be. I don't know how long we would have been married if he wanted something different.
I think that was one of my reasons to be a stay at home mom. You see, my mom worked all throughout my childhood, not because she wanted to, but because she had to. I do have good memories of her when she was home and that is what I want my children to have as well. Memories. I wanted to work also, but after I had my son I couldn't imagine leaving him. Fortunatly I can stay home with my children.
I let my children explore, they get dirty, it's fun. LOL We take day trips to the park and so. The other day we were at the park for close to three hours! It was fine because I packed food and we didn't have to go anywhere that day. It was a nice relaxing day. I love that I can be here to do that with my children.
Welcome to the board, feel free to pipe in whenever you want. We're pretty good listeners.

P.S. When we were at the Zoo I saw an Australian Walking Stick. Those things are huge!
Australia- Home of the Big Bugs. How do you do it?
