I once gained 85 lbs in 4 months when taking heavy doses of prednisone.  I was in the hospital being nutritionally supported by IV to rest my guts and I had a gastric tube to keep my stomach empty.  I couldn't eat or drink at all.  Admittedly, in the hospital my activity level was lower but I tried to walk the ward lots.  I lost the weight again in less than 3 months after I weaned off the drugs so maybe it was water too, but it wasn't all water.

I doubt if DeeDee has gained weight in some weird way-just really unhealthy lifestyle...but it is not impossible.

She could also have a lack of Lepton, the hormone that helps regulate the amount of food you eat.

When I am talking about weight gain in this thread I'm refering to fat gain. Some meds and surgery can cause gross water gain. When I had my hernia surgery in november I gained 15 lbs in a week and then I lost it all a week later. IV fluids can really pile on fast.

That was true weight gain, it was water, the body gathers water when it's traumatized.
