If you own a car and depend on it to get you places, of course you are greedy about obtaining gasoline at a price that you think is fair.
The reality is that prices would be cheaper right now if we were self-sufficient, if we drilled all or most of our own oil. We don't drill all of our own oil because we as a voting entity chose not to drill here in the USA. Remember when GW Bush first came into office and put it to the public, to open up Alaska for drilling? Yes, folks, you are reaping what you have sown. And I'm not advocating that we destroy pristine wildernesses for oil. We voted not to drill here for some very good reasons, but we didn't take into account future scenarios, like being dependant on the middle east for our supplies. We didn't say, "Ok, we're are not going to be self-reliant for energy, but we need to start getting serious about alternative fuels NOW so we are not dependant indefinitely.
Our oil companies buy it from the middle east and refine it here for use. We are NOT at the mercy of OUR oil companies, we are at the mercy of  the oil producing countries of the middle east. And you can all see how stable that area is. They can jack us around because there is plenty of competition for the oil and there are more countries joining the competition as I write this.
WAKE UP and demand our people in Washington to get behind the switch to something else!
