Hi you didn't say if you are married or not. I have bipolar 11 disorder and go to a mental health facility. I do work but i am not married and they go by your income on how much they charge you per visit for seeing a therapist or a phyciatrist. I get my add medicine through a pharmacudacle company along with other meds through patient assistance programs my add medicine only costs me 5.00 a month. And i get my other meds for free.Hopefully you can contact a mental health facility in your area and cal them and see what srvices they have to offer you, tell them you have no other insurance. i am paying 35.00 a visit to see my phiciatrist once every three months. Good luck to you and i hope i have been of some help to you.    Pat
Saddest thing is, my brother is an insurance salesman. Once you admit to a mental disorder such as bipolar; don't ever lose your life insurance. You then become pretty much uninsurable; it becomes very expensive. No, we didn't pay for this disease; but in a lot of ways we are paying!

I also have problems with getting my meds and doctor visits taken care of. I recently moved to TN from GA. In GA, I just had to pay $5 per prescription and nothing to go to the mental health dept, but it costs $45 for the first visit to the health dept in TN. I had to pay full price for my last prescriptions because I don't qualify for medical aid and I do not have insurance. I did send my prescription to the pharmecudical company, but who knows how long that is going to take. I wish they had some kind of medical aid just for mental illnesses/disorders. This would make my life a whole lot easier. I wouldn't have to worry about either skipping the doctor's appointment or stopping my medications because I can only afford one or the other or neither. There is so many situations that come with having Bipolar and I don't think people understand how much it sucks to have Bipolar.
