Quote From: mchenryxI watched the program this afternoon about the Teen Wake-up Calls and the one that bothered me the most was Brianna. Dr. Phil is pretty much right on the money but I honestly felt that this time he forgot a few things. I don't know if you or her mother is going to get her to stop having sex but has anyone talked to her about birth control? Besides getting AIDS and HIV has anyone talked to her about getting HPV? Has she even seen a ob/gyn????? With her sexual behavior she is a perfect candidate for HPV, genital warts, and most of all, cervical cancer. Has anyone bothered to explain to her the dangers of cervical cancer be it pre-cancerous or the actual cancer stage? Dr. Phil, I am sorry but you missed a few open spots there that are absolutely necessary. You may have talked to her about them after the show but all I saw was what was on the television set. Did I miss something on your show?
I agree completely! In addition to the other medical conditions you mention I kept waiting for Dr. Phil to talk more about pregnancy and the deadend street she'll travel down when she's 18 and already has two or three kids and no prospects to better herself. As horrible as all these diseases are, the plight of unmarried teen mothers is a much bigger issue in this society.
Why didn't he take her to visit a young teenage mother with several screaming kids in the projects living on welfare because she can't get a job because she can't afford day care......so on and so forth. In my opinion, this is the road this girl is most likely to end up on.
