08/11 Conned by a Con Artist

Quote From: therapsssst

My daughter (22) is currently living with a con man who is 43. We know little of his background.  They have lived together for two months. This man stole her father's credit card and used it. I think he has a criminal past. Does anyone know what online background search is reliable?
The worst of this situation is that my daughter has a little boy (3) living with them.

after my husband left, i used www.intelius.com to do a complete background check on him

it gave me the address of the apartment he had been renting with the new girlfriend since December (so I knew that she had been telling me the truth when I saw that).  It also listed all addresses for several years.

the report was VERY informative.  :)

Your daughter must know about her live-in lover stealing her father's credit card yet she CHOOSES to stay with him. If you think he has a criminal past, you can bet she does as well. So why would you think learning more about his background would convince your daughter to leave him? She's already foolish enough to subject her young child to this man who is, in the least, a thief. Apparently she doesn't care about his character and she cares little for the welfare of her child. That's very sad.

Finding out the criminal past will just make you worry more. But if that's what you want to do, find an on-line site that does these checks. Before you pay them, contact the Better Business Bureau and your local state agency that deals with the licensing of these business men. Many states will even allow you to see any complaints filed with the state licensing boards.

Good luck, but I think it will take more than a ciminal record to wake your daughter up. Just the fact that at age 22 she is LIVING WITH a 43-yr-old and has a young son (not by him) doesn't give me much hope. But thank God she has parents who care and who are worried about her. God bless you and good luck.

And DO please protect your grandson if you learn that this man is a danger to anyone! Get the state involved and apply with them for temporary custody of him. That innocent child deserves at least that!
