You want to build your credit back up and someday buy a house. Well in about 2 years or so that bankruptcy will off your credit report..
I am homemaker.  I have been around this world for some time now and in my life and managing our family's money  a few things have been made clear to me.
First get out of bed and stop being depressed and feeling like a loser. That gets you nowhere fast.
Second get all your bills together in one place. Make a list of them. Household and credit cards and car payments everything.
There are numbers on the net where you can call the credit reporting agencies Call one Transunion is a good one Have them send you your credit report.
Now you know how much you owe. Take 35% of your take home pay and put it on a sheet of paper. Ok that is how much you need to pay your rent or someday your house payment and all your bills. If your bills and rent add up to more then 35% you need to get that down to under that number.
Then go and find yourself a quart jar somewhere clean it out real good put a label on it that says house fund. Put it on the chest were your husband empties his pant pockets every nite Tell him to put his change in that jar.  When the jar is filled roll  the money and put it in your checking account Then go on line and find yourself a place to open up a saving account.
Want to build up that credit. Pay your rent on time for 2 years.  Get your telephone in your name and your heating and electric bill and make sure you pay them on time. After about a 6 months or a year from now go on line and find a secure credit card somewhere and apply for it. Starting back this will cost you but in the long run after you have a secure card for about a year and pay it on time each month (charge one tank of gas a month and when the bill comes in pay it) Then you can get one real credit card. After you can get one good card cancel the secure one. If you do all this by the time the bankruptcy comes off your credit report You should have around a 560 Fico score or maybe a little higher. 620 will get you a house. At least it used too. But you will need a downpayment and closing cost and moving money So if you want that house in around 2 years then start saving today. Take the money you get from using coupons at the super market and put that in the bank. Cut out the extras like cell phones and add ons on cable and land lines. Get discounts on auto insurance. You can do it It is just a matter of mind set and getting out of bed.
Good luck
Kymaiden
