Quote From: littletinyladyPeople are not seeing what this issue is about. It is about our right to "Freedom of Speech on the Internet."
1. The truth is 100% defense to libel. (as per the US Supreme Court)
2.
Tasha can not control what thousands of people post, nor can any
webmaster or search engine. Therefore, under the 1996 Communcations
Decency Act, they are not liable.
3. This is no different than a gossip column because no information can be guaranteed or verified.
4.
Tasha is fighting for women's rights for free speech on the internet,
which is a First Amendment issue. Do you all want the government to
regulate what you can and can not post on the internet like they do in
other countries? If so, then we must first over turn or amend the
First Amendment.
5. How can women warn other women about
pedophiles, abusers, cheaters, liars, etc... if they don't have a safe
place to post? Many of these women fear their abusers and only post
because they know their identities will remain anonymous.
Tasha has my full support and even if she doesn't win the first round, she can appeal to a higher court.
If
porn sites, escort sites, gambling sites, etc... are all allowed to
function on the net, there should be no reason why a website such as
hers should not be able to co-exist.
Stay strong Tasha. There are thousands of us routing for you!!!
I get so tired of people hiding behind the First Amendment. This issue goes beyond that. Tasha is being irresponsible by exposing people's privacy to the world's biggest public forum - the Internet. It's one thing if it's inside a book, or somewhere you have to know to look. But everytime Todd's name is put in a Search engine, Tasha's site comes up like he said. Prospective employers will see it. His parents, his children, anybody who knows him. I'd sue her ass too if my dirty laundry was exposed without my consent to the entire world. He has NO control over it. How would you like that to happen to your name?
