Trying to Quit Smoking?

Quote From: agathe1949

Hi K;   Nice to see you here!  Yes it is very hard to quit no matter how young or not so young we are.  Since you were able to do it before and for one and a half years, you can do this again.  Everyone here has been where you are now.  It took me several tries to do it.  I would not have done this without my friends here in this board.  Everyone here is priceless to me!   You need to get to your doctor and get some Welbutrin or it's equivalent.  Some of us have done it without these meds so it's up to you if you want to go this route. I used the pills and the Nico-derm patches.  Some of us went cold turkey.  It's really up to you, you should know yourself better than anyone else. Then you need one of these meters (Silkquit).  Linda posted the site in one of her messages.  You need to pick a quit date.  You need to find something else to do with your hands while you are in your first month or so.  I knitted and did a lot of crossword puzzles.  Good music to meditate helps a lot too.  Long fragrant baths and meditation.   I had to stay away from all of my smoking friends for the first month or so.  I did loose a few "friends" because I quit but these people were never really my friends.   And yes, I did fall off the wagon. With the help of my friends here, I got back on the wagon and been smoke free for 6 months, two weeks now.   The idea is that you post here often and be honest with your feelings.  It's not easy to quit but it is doable.    Have a great day and hope to read you here again soon.   Aggie Six months, two weeks, 11 hours, 57 minutes and 13 seconds. 4887 cigarettes not smoked, saving $1,954.56. Life saved: 2 weeks, 2 days, 23 hours, 15 minutes.

Nice to meet you Aggie!!  Glad to hear that you have 6 months under your belt that is awsome!!!  I plan to use the board a lot, not sure when I am going to start.  I have had thoughts today about just putting them down and starting right now!!!  Maybe that would be the best way to go???
