Yes, it is sad that so many couples shack up these days. And my generation is to blame for that - the baby boomers. The saying was, "Why do we need a piece of paper to prove our love?" So, what we really need now is for another generation to come along and push things in the other direction. There should be a great movement in favor of marriage!
Unforunately, I think it may be too late. Women, do not under any circumstances live with a man you are not married to. If we all stick together on this, we could take responsibility and any girl children of current illegitimate children will not be wasting their lives having more illegitimate children and wondering when their father will marry them.
I do wish that women who shack up with men, especially those with babies, would not refer to the men as their "boyfriends". A boyfriend is a man who takes you to dinner and the movies and watches tv on your couch and then goes home.
