Have you ever thought about suspending the use of the medication during a long weekend or a school vacation week? It is worth a try. Another thing to consider is that all of us are different, one medication, concerta- doesn’t work for everyone with ADD. My daughter was diagnosed with ADD a few years ago, we tried Ritalin, didn’t work, tried concerta, didn’t work, tried adderal, and that was the right medication for her. You need to be an advocate for your son, go to his dr. and tell him/her that you think it is time to try a different medication. You are right, your son should NOT be struggling so hard. Life must be very difficult for him with this constant struggle, he needs and deserves some real help. I also take my daughter (age 15) to see a homeopathic dr. who has a remedy that she takes every 6 months. My daughter has been on the honor roll ever since we began the homeopathic remedy! I urge you to look in your yellow pages and call around to local homeopathic dr.s and see what info they can share with you about add. I wish you well!
