We had to work hard
Quote From: lidicaI just thought about how much money you helped raise. Do you want to come help me in North Carolina fund raise I want to raise money to go to Africa and take a few of the kids from church with us! Goal is to do this in two years and I know this will take some doing. We had as our theme for Vacation Bible School Going Global With Jesus and We're Going To Africa! It was a lot of fun and at the end I got up and said why pretend Let's Go to Africa! All the kids at church faceslit up like light bulbs. So now I have to get busy fund raising and getting a committee together!haha So if you have any quickie ideas let me hear them I know you are a PRO to get to 100,000. Good for you and all the rest that did that! I do a lot of community service and I know that figure is not easy to do! Since our school is a public magnet school for the fine arts, our student body is made up of a cross section of kids, some of who never could have made this trip unless we raised the necessary funds. The bulk of our money came from what we called Adopt-A-Performer where the kids sent out letters requesting sponsorship from friends, relatives, businesses, etc. Any money raised by each individual child went directly to their account. We held a raffle, a murder mystery dinner/silent auction, we bussed tables at CiCi's Pizza for tips, etc., we held casserole sales, craft sales, yard sales...sometimes it got rather overwhelming. But the good news is that we perservered and this time next week they'll be on the plane!
Good luck to you in your fund raising efforts. It can sometimes feel like a thankless job (especially when some of the other parents don't contribute their time) but keep those kids in mind and you'll do it!
