lori I am so glad to hear that you have a diagnosis at an early age. Our 15 year old daughter was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome and Social Anxiety Disorder this past April 2006. I homeschooled her most of her life and always knew there was something wrong with her, but didn't know exactly what it was. Everyone just told me she was extremely shy and would outgrow it. If she'd been diagnosed at an earlier age I think we wouldn't be struggling as much as we are now. She can't handle social situations at all. She stopped going to school. The school's special ed dept. has been wonderful, but now they are threatening to send a Truancy officer around. I think this will totally freak my daughter out. She's not staying home because she's being defiant, she just can't handle being with all those kids. I wish I could still homeschool her, but finances have forced me back to work full time. Anybody out there have any advice???
