39 feeling like 89

Quote From: remco2

This is the first time on his web site. I watch Dr. Phil when I can and I always come away with something positive. I also have chronic pain, Fibro and Behcet's auto immune. My co worker sits behind me has Fibro and an auto also. We can talk to each other and it helps us get through the day. We do not complain but talk about our symptons and it helps to know someone else can identify with your pain.  Unless you have chronic pain you have no idea of the pain someone is experiencing. Education is the tool to have the general public and families aware of the enormity of chronic pain.

I have never seen anything on Dr. Phil regarding chronic pain, but have read your stories and can totally understand. I am 39 years old and have suffered with MS for 8 years. My first husband gave up on me less than 3 months after my diagnosis explaining he couldn't handle my illness. The pain of ending a 12 year marriage actually turned out to be a blessing. After 5 years of being single, scared to disclose my illness , I found my prince. I had been a nurse for 20 years, but due to my illness I am no longer able to work. I hurt every day of my life. From having migraines, chronic back pain and peripheral neuropathy each day can be a struggle. Also, I have fatigue within hours of waking up. It sucks!!!!  I chose not to be on pain meds, due to the possibility of becoming addicted. I do ,however, take Lyrica. Also, I have started Tysabri infusions. I have a wonderful doc at The MS Clinic at Vanderbilt in Nashville TN. Not a very good bedside manner, but very very knowledgable and wonderful nurses. People who have no idea what MS is and the pain it causes just can't understand what we go through. Just believe that there is a purpose to this all. Suffering is part of life's journey.
