If the point of making rules was to boss someone around, we'd find someone easier to boss around than a 13-year-old; a Golden Retriever, for instance! :)
You seem to be a smart kid. You must know that staying up late means you are tired in school, and can't concentrate properly. You must know that if you watch TV before you do your homework, you might not have enough time to finish it if you run into a problem. You also know that if you don't learn self-discipline now and get decent grades, you might not have as many career choices available to you later. How badly would it suck to discover when you're 17 that your passion is to be a veterinarian or a pharmacist or a lawyer, know that you're smart enough, but not be able to because you let your marks slide.
I understand why you wouldn't want adults to boss you around, but when you make your own choices, why do you make choices that will hurt you?
I would really like to know, because I have a 13-year-old stepson, and I don't understand his choices either.
