Good post!

Quote From: grammasara

If he is that controlling over the particulars of the wedding, she may want to give back the ring and find another mate. If he is paying for the wedding, he should explain to her the budgeted amounts and ask her if she wants to move some funds from A to B. Perhaps invitations aren't as important to her as flowers. Then, let her pick want she wants from the categories within the budget. I have used our store's floral department for centerpieces, dances, and a wedding reception at my home. It was more cost efficient than a florist shop, and I received just want I wanted.

I like your response to the post saying "it's the bride's day" so everything goes!!!

It shouldn't be "the brides day" unless she plans to pay for it herself! It is a day for COUPLES and for GOD. And Jesus would cry if He were here witnessing all the money WASTED on just plain "stuff" to show off the day!

And with a 50 plus % divorce rate, it is FOOLISH to spend a lot on a wedding. Perhaps if people invested more time on getting to know eachother than on going into debt for a wedding, we wouldn't have such an inexcusable divorce rate!

If I had to do it again (if hubby of 17 years died), I would get married in a chapel in front of GOD and then pay (not using credit) to throw a big barbeque for all our family and friends. Gifts wouldn't be allowed, unless they were donations to the charity of their choice!

Let's get our PRIORITIES STRAIGHT, people!!!
