11/24 Great School Debate
Quote From: sneakers145Really, you think that having a job is being a paid slave?
Yes, according to a few corporate drones I know stuck in a cube all day. I once had a job as a teenager where the big boss man told us on day one that he 'owned us' for the entire summer. Meaning if he put you on the schedule, you'd better show up. No asking or taking days off, no vacations, nada. His business came first, your personal life be da*ned.
Not everybody has a dead-end job, but many do.
Is this the negative attitude you are passing on to your kids?
Nope. I tell them to pursue their passions and the money will follow. That their work should be like play. Nothing better than waking up every morning eager to get to work, to PLAY, and get paid for it, too! :D My husband is a product of public schools and public university. He has a fabulous job with great financial reward, world travel, and tremendous respect. And yes, he has a boss. He is hardly a slave. Maybe those who think of their jobs as slavery are wishing they had taken school a bit more seriously. Maybe they are taking PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for their failure to live their passions and going for the short term gratification.
