I have Fibromyalgia (whatever) and my Dr. prescribed me Methadone (after many ofther drugs) and I have been on Methadone for over 3 years now. Every time I try to get off of them the pain and withdrawls are so bad I cant take it -and then - I take the pills. I work also, how can I possibly go to work while withdrawing!!! The withdrawls are horrifying, people think "Oh she's just feeling like she has the flu", Thats just stupid. She is going through something that they are all lucky enough not to have to go through! Thank God she has Doctors there that can give her something that will help her through the withdrawls, I dont have that. I dont know how or when I will be able to get off of these terrible pills, I wish my Doctor had never given them to me.
I feel for you. I too have been through the withdrawls and I agree that the Dr. should have let her be. Unless you have experienced it, noone has a right to say "it's not that bad!!" I don't understand why you dr. would give you methodone?? For pain?? I know that it is supposed to be for pain, but every dr. I have talked to says that NO DR. SHOULD EVER GIVE METHEDONE FOR PAIN??? Have you tried Suboxone to try to get off the methodone and something that does not have opioids for the pain? I would go see another dr. or another until I found one that had MY BEST HEALTH INTEREST AT HEART. I have seen and heard of too many people OD on methodone. My neice just died this past summer and she had too much methedone in her system. She died in her sleep. They should take this off he market as well as ALL opioids!!! I am using Suboxone to get through my pill addiction and it has worked great along with therapy!!
