And I also must add...
I would've made a POOR unschooler, as I was 17 when he was born. I was juggling raising my kid, as well trying to grow up as fast as I could, too.
I thank GOD for the teachers that crossed my son's path (and mine, too). I'm not a horrible mother by any means...I did afterall, raise a child to adulthood, and he is now in a 4 year univerisity...my husband and I did *something* right.
But I must admit...I didn't raise him in a bubble...my parents helped, my inlaws helped...my kids' catechism teachers helped...and I made friends with each and every one of their elementary school teachers...they guided me so, so much.
Had I homeschooled, or unschooled my child...the homeschoolers in my area (The San Francisco Bay Area) certainly would've ostracized me for being so young and naive...I know...horrible broad generalization, but the homeschoolers in my town are very judgmental and elitist. I've never met an unschooler.
