Chipping is injecting a drug just under the skin as opposed to directly into a vein. Some addicts resort to this method after long-time abuse because eventually their veins will collapse and they can no longer inject into the vein.

WOw you have had a rough emotional life. My sister and I use to both be addicted to Meth. I havent used in 6 yrs. I then found out recently she was on heroin and she looks so skinny. My childhood friend ODed 2 yrs ago from heroin so I was scared this was going to happen to my sister. Thankfully she moved but now I just think is a trade for a trade. SHe is probably doing something else.

 

But, wow you must be really strong

When a person starts to use heroin its a 'little here and a little there' (hence the term chippin,street lingo) . "He started chippin after 5yrs of sobrity/clean and we all know there is no chipping in heroin users" . I was refering to the newbie, the person that has no idea of the physical addiction they will soon be experiencing, in a very short time.  This can be compared to the "social drinker"  or the 'weekend partee-er' that occasionally may experiment with drugs vs. the alcoholic that cannot take that first drink or the addict that knows  what the first fix  will result in.  There is no middle ground for heroin user nor alcoholics.

I have to go and read up on the progress of the twins at their new rehab centers.  I am very interested in the  'cutting edge technology'  and 'state-of-the-art facility', that Dr. Phil provided for the twins.

"Chipping" is using heroin, but not so often that you get addicted.

Most users start out chipping, but all but a few end up addicted.  

My heart cries for you,this is so sad,you wonder where the help is.My 28 yr old son died in a boarding house 3 hrs from us.We loved him so much.Someone has got to take this drug addiction serious,these are not street people.they are our children,dads,brothers.I never heard Mccain or Obama speak of doing something about this horrible desase.It is a defect,like high blood pressure,etc.I am afraid my sweet son is just another addict the police don't have to worry about.Joshua was loved and always will be.
