12/06 Teacher Troubles

Quote From: diamond_st

I sat in shock and dismay, Dr. Phil, when you tried to turn the teacher/principal (?) Anna, into  the bad person.

Who CARES if that "boy" will carry his Felon Conviction around the rest of his life?  Certainly, he didn't at the time he joined his friends in their "prank".  I have worked in law enforcement for years, as a civilian, and am a paralegal.   I am certain that "Felony" charge will be plea-bargained  down to a lesser charge, and this "poor little kid" won't be traumatized!!  Good Grief, Dr. Phil!

This woman has been victimized by these youngsters, and they do not need just a slap on the wrist and have their apology accepted.  There are times when they need to be taught that you can't attack another human and not suffer the consequenses.  We raised our grandson, and he was held accountable when he got out of line during his teen years.  He was never physically punished either...but he spent a lot of his free time grounded for his actions.  He never did anything like this, however.  I am sure I would probably react like this boy's parents did, and try  to say everyone was really sorry for that boy's actions.  YOU need to apologize to her for YOUR attitude.

I do not blame that woman at all for going after the parents AND the kids in court!  Why did YOU try to make her, the VICTIM, the bad person in this instance?  I was just completely shocked by your attitude towards her.

The fact that teens'  brains aren't fully grown just won't fly under circumstances like this.

Shame on you, Dr. Phil.

i have to say that i agree with the fact that the teacher is not a bad person at all in this.they should be punished severly,my husband works in law enforcement,a corrections officer in a prison, this is how these criminals start out.then no one gets disciplined thet then move on to bigger and bigger crimes.teachers are not responsible to parent in this fashion but should be allowed to seek legal justice without scrutiny.they teach our kids,we parent our kids.PARENTS TEACH YOUR KIDS SOME MANNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have children i hope my boys never do this to there teachers,it is a sexual offense in my opinion.she should have been treated better on the show.i hope those boys do go to jail!           bella677

"Who CARES if that "boy" will carry his Felon Conviction around the rest of his life? "

I'm sure his parents do!  I'm sure he will when he can't get a JOB & ends up in the system with us allhaving to pay for them because they can't make a living & all because they called the teacher a naughty name?!  Who said anything about these kids not having consequences?  Who said anything about them suffering a slap on the wrist?  Unless their lives are runined until they're 40 they're just getting a slap on the wrist?

If kids should be gone after in court & punished like adults then they should have all the privies of an adult too right?  Do you think they're brains are big enought to vote, to say they want a beer, to have sex, get married, or join the army?  Of course not because they are KIDS & they are not RATIONAL.  Are you going to say that you never wrote anything or said anything as a teen that was mean ever?

You say that you're sure these KIDS "won't be truamatized!!"  You seem all knowing & what are your credientials to make such a statement?  As someone in the Justice system you MUST know that the juvinile system was created for a reason NO?  Perhaps it was because kids are not thinking adults?!  You say that as a teen your grandson was held accountable for his acctions when he did wrong & spend time grounded?  For what & what would you have done if whatever he was being punished for was going to become a FELONY on his record until he was 30 or 40 yrs. old?  Even if it's just into his 20's it's effect his career & future & really even just going down to juvinile haul & held there a good kid being taught a lesson can learn all sorts of new HORRIBLE things down there.  but you're in law enforcement & should know this right?  Suppose you're punishment was besides the point & from outside your family another said "he did wrong & now he's gonna pay" & they entend to ruin him.?  would you just look at him & say "oh well who CARES?"

Well said.

In my opinion, you are absolutely right. This is not a "poor little kid" situation, and the slap on the wrist, in my mind, reaffirms that this society has gone soft on morality. The "not fully grown brains" is no excuse either. They knew what they were doing, and that's the bottom line.

First of all you assume this CHILD knew he was committing a felony.

Second, this is a free country and she CHOSE to work with Children.  She wasn't ordered into this dangerous field of work.  It's like suing the cow for kicking over the pail of milk?  duh....cow.

We have taken God away from our schools.  Kids should be taught the Ten Commandments.
