Quote From: dramamamaSweetheart, I don' t think you can judge any parent until you are one....these people's experiences are not your own....you can't judge anything based on what you don't know....I agree that many people are scared and go overboard on this subject but if it saves one life is it not worth it? If it helps one parent wake up to the pain their kid is going through, is that not worth the risk that people might go nuts over the subject....all Dr. Phil is doing is trying to educate people and make parents aware of what kids are going through....this isn't a new thing.....kids were doing this when I was a teen too...but the fact is that many people do want to get a high...I can get high off of nyquil or whatever....when I am sick and I take that stuff it is so I can rest and get some relief....people who use these medicines when they are not sick are doing the same thing...there is a little buzz from a little medicine...I know I have felt it.
There are three main problems that I found with your response to this teens quote.
I personally find it really funny that you won't allow him/her to "judge any parent until you are one," honestly all of the adults on this site have somehow categorizes all of us teens into statistics, from info given by the media (false might i add) , and then judges all of us.
"the pain their kid is going through" is most likely the parents fault, and if the teen wants to deal with that with drugs, then it serves the parent right, since apparently they were doing something wrong and if not, then the teen wants to do it for some other reason, and in that case just let the teen learn from their own mistakes.
and lastly "there is a little buzz from a little medicine..i know i have felt it.." by a little medicine are you referring to a buzz because you took a tbs too much nyquil or did you actually take high doses to feel the buzz..........because honestly if it's the first instance............... you don't know
