01/12 Settle This!

I don't think covering them from head to toe is the answer or realistic, but to allow her daughters to dress trashy and look like hookers just because "it's in", which I don't believe for a second,is just ridiculous and asking for trouble!
I don't believe it, either. I'd like to know where such skimpy clothing is "in". It isn't among any of the children I see. Stores stock plenty of fashionable childrens' clothes that aren't skimpy. And, for those who sew, there are plenty of patterns for such clothing. Dr Phil's guest, in sending her children to school wearing clothes that violate the dress code. And, complaining when they're sent home to change, is instilling in her daughters a disrespect for authority that could end up biting her in the butt. Suppose, once they're driving, they treat the traffic laws with the same way she treats their school's dress code? Wrapping their car around a tree by disregarding the speed limit?  And, getting thrown to their death by disregarding the seat belt law?

For situations like this family has ,where the mom and dad are at odds on the kids' clothing, that's when uniforms in the schools are a real blessing!  Since that is not the case,  I would think the school(s) would have a dress code policy in place, and would NOT allow these suggestive and provacative type clothes.  I definitely agree with the dad on this one, and feel the mom is only allowing and encouraging her girls to make a not-so-nice statement about themselves.  When they become teens, she may wish she had been more conservative, and taught the girls to respect themselves in all ways, including appearance, and in return others would respect them.  I guess you have to know it before you can teach it!  Too bad!
