I realize that. But a lot of cops just want to close a case and get the conviction. Their job is to bring a perp to justice and close the case so that they can mire thru the 10 billion other cases they have to solve. Yeah, it's the easy way out and doesn't serve the public if the wrong man is incarcerated because the guilty party is still at large.
